Marital Communication during Conflict: A Study on Attachment Dimensions and Interaction Patterns

Conflict is increasingly present and could be severe in many adult romantic relationships including marriage, yet understudied the context of attachment style. This study set out to investigate underlying relationship between styles patterns interaction a Malaysian setting. By means survey method, data was collected using self-reporting questionnaire involving 400 married individuals state Penang, Malaysia for duration six months, with Partial Least Squares (PLS) employed analysis. The application Attachment Theory this established via two dimensions anxiety avoidance. Result from analysis yielded all constructs have composite reliability value more than 0.6 convergent discriminant validity an average variance extracted (AVE) greater 0.50. findings indicated that, who are high will exhibit destructive avoidance during conflict. Similarly, destructive, low level constructive pattern concludes that conflict among function styles. also addressed gap research literature by providing non-western basing within Keywords: Anxiety, avoidance, conflict, marital communication, individuals.
